Introduction

Introduction to PRP

Many patients wish to rejuvenate their skin without invasive surgical procedures or artificial fillers. A PRP facial uses the platelets and growth factors in your blood to stimulate your body’s natural healing process. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) can repair damaged skin and provide a healthier, more youthful appearance. At Skin Care at 5th Ave in Peachtree City, GA, we serve the greater Atlanta area using this advanced skin rejuvenation technique to restore a natural glow to your skin. Dr. Joseph Galitzin and the team have extensive experience in non-surgical cosmetic solutions and can combine the technological advances of PRP and microneedling to brighten your skin and combat signs of aging.

What is PRP?

Our blood is filled with platelets, which are tiny cells that are very important to healing. Using a centrifuge, we can isolate the platelets and growth factors within the blood. This concentrated blood is known as platelet-rich plasma, and it can be repurposed during treatment.

What are the Benefits of PRP?

Facial rejuvenation with PRP offers a more natural way to achieve many of the benefits of procedures like facelifts and injectables. A PRP facial can improve the appearance of:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sagging skin
  • Acne scars
  • Rosacea
  • Dark circles under the eyes
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Stretch marks
  • Dark spots

PRP treatment can also increase collagen production in your skin to combat volume loss. After a PRP facial, many patients notice their skin acquires a youthful, glowing appearance. In addition, this treatment involves little downtime. Some patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours, while others need two to four days.

Who are the Best Candidates for PRP?

The best candidates for PRP in the Atlanta area are those who have the following characteristics:

  • Are optimistic and realistic about treatment results
  • Do not want to have invasive surgery
  • Looking to counteract the negative effects of aging
  • Overall healthy with no pre-existing medical conditions
  • Want long-lasting results
  • Wish to get rid of small scars

Unfortunately due to the nature of the treatment, if you have any blood conditions such as HIV, Hepatitis C, or AIDS, or are suffering from a malignancy infection (blood or cancer), PRP may not be right for you. If you have any concerns or questions regarding your candidacy, please feel free to ask during your consultation.

What to Expect on the Day of PRP

If you decide to undergo a PRP facial, we will first collect a small amount of blood. The experience is similar to having a blood test. Then, we will use a centrifuge to isolate the PRP. This process takes about 10 minutes.

Once the PRP is isolated, we will apply a numbing solution to your face to ensure your comfort during treatment. Next, we will use the microneedling device to stimulate a localized healing response. Typically, patients feel a light scraping sensation during this portion of the procedure.

After microneedling, we will spread the remaining PRP over your skin to further activate stem cells in the skin and encourage the production of new, younger tissue. Usually, we let the substance soak into the skin for a short period of time before removing it. A typical procedure takes between 30 and 40 minutes.

PRP Recovery

In many cases, patients notice an immediate change in the appearance of their skin. However, your final results will take several days or weeks to develop. You may continue to see improvements in your skin for months after treatment. To enhance your results, you can combine a PRP facial with one of our other skin treatments or injectable fillers.

For some patients, we recommend returning to the office for multiple sessions. Generally, one to three treatments are enough to achieve the desired effects. However, addressing more extensive signs of aging make takes six to eight sessions.

How Much Does PRP Cost in Atlanta, GA?

The cost of PRP in the South Atlanta metro area will be based on numerous factors, including the size and location of the targeted treatment area. After meeting with Dr. Galitzin and he creates your plan, our Patient Coordinator will provide you with a breakdown of the total cost.

PRP FAQs

Is PRP painful?

Due to the very nature of this treatment, some people may find PRP to be uncomfortable. We need to withdraw your blood first, so if you are not a fan of needles, this may be an issue. Dr. Galitzin has stayed on top of the best techniques for withdrawing blood and has performed this treatment numerous times, but if this is a concern for you, please let us know. After the blood is drawn and the treatment begins, some patients may find the pricking sensation of the handheld device to cause discomfort, but this is typically only temporary as your skin becomes numb and you get used to the sensation.

How many appointments will I need?

Just like any other skin rejuvenation technique out there, you will always see better, longer-lasting results with more treatments. You should be able to see positive changes after your face heals from your first treatment, but we always like to recommend between three and six sessions to achieve the best results.

How long until I see results?

You should see your skin tighter after a few weeks when your swelling has gone down and your body has a chance to produce more collagen, however, as mentioned above, the more sessions you have, the better your results are.

Can I combine PRP with other procedures?

Many of our PRP patients in the greater Atlanta area choose to combine their treatment with other rejuvenation procedures, such as PicoSure™ Focus Skin Revitalization, Dermal Fillers, or AquaGold Fine Touch. If you have a specific goal in mind or would like to learn more about your options, please bring this up during your consultation so that Dr. Galitzin can make his experienced and knowledgeable recommendations.

What are the risks associated with PRP?

Dr. Galitzin is a very experienced practitioner and takes each one of his patient's safety and health very seriously. While it is an overall very safe treatment, some risks and side effects associated with the procedure can include:
  • Bleeding
  • Infection
  • Nerve injuries
  • Tissue damage
