Introduction to IPL PhotoFacial

As we age, the sun, environment, and other factors can take a toll on our skin, making it appear aged, blotchy, and uneven. An IPL Photofacial treatment is a proven, non-invasive laser procedure that can rejuvenate your skin by stimulating collagen production at the deepest levels. At Skin Care at 5th Ave, Dr. Joseph Galitzin offers IPL Photofacials to provide patients with a smoother, healthier appearance without any downtime. Our experienced team in Peachtree City, GA, is dedicated to using the latest laser technology to help our patients all over the greater Atlanta area achieve their cosmetic goals and improve their quality of life.

What is IPL PhotoFacial?

Also known as photo rejuvenation, a photofacial is an advanced laser skin treatment that uses intense pulses of light to treat skin discoloration, fine lines, and broken capillaries. IPL Photofacials work by stimulating cell rejuvenation and collagen production. As a building block for your skin, collagen is a protein that is responsible for its elasticity and smooth supple quality. However, collagen production naturally slows with age. As a result, Dr. Galitzin offers IPL Photofacials to help to reinvigorate your skin and produce a youthful appearance, diminishing the presence of fine lines and wrinkles.

What are the Benefits of IPL PhotoFacial?

IPL Photofacials can be used on various areas of the body, including the face, hands, and chest. Some of the wonderful benefits that our Atlanta-based IPL PhotoFacial patients have seen from their treatments are:

  • Affordable treatments
  • Better complexion
  • Controls acne breakouts
  • Immediate improvement after one treatment
  • Reduces redness and inflammation
  • Repairs smaller blood vessels
  • Scar tissue elimination
  • Treatments are quick

Dr. Galitzin may recommend this particular treatment for patients with fair skin tones, as the laser can cause pigmentation issues in patients with darker or tanned skin. If this procedure is not appropriate for your needs, our team can recommend another treatment that can help you achieve your goals.

Who are the Best Candidates for IPL PhotoFacial?

We believe that the best candidates for IPL PhotoFacial in the greater Atlanta area are anyone with a positive attitude, realistic expectations, and looking to treat blotchy, sun-damaged, or discolored skin. If you’re suffering from any of the issues below, you could see tremendous results:

  • Age spots
  • Birthmarks
  • Broken blood vessels
  • Brown or red blemishes
  • Freckles
  • Hormonal pigmentation
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Large pores
  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Mole-like discolorations
  • Rosacea
  • Sunspots
  • Vascular redness

At Skin Care at 5th Ave., we do not recommend this treatment for patients with melasma (a skin condition that causes patches and spots which are darker than your natural skin tone).

What’s the First Step?

At your consultation, Dr. Galitzin will review your aesthetic goals to create a customized treatment plan for your needs. If you and the doctor both agree on our recommendations, we can either perform the treatment right then and there or schedule a time for you to come back that you’re more comfortable with. It’s important to be upfront and honest with your provider about not only your goals for the treatment but also your full medical history. This will ensure we can provide the best results for your IPL Photofacial.

What to Expect on the Day of IPL PhotoFacial

During your procedure, our team will target specific areas of your skin with a specialized handheld device. This tool releases brief, bursts of light that penetrate the skin and create a warming sensation. Typically, patients compare the feeling of this light beam to a rubber band snapping lightly against the skin. However, we can apply a numbing cream before your procedure to ensure your comfort.

IPL PhotoFacial Recovery

Your Photofacial should only take about 30 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. There is no downtime required and you can immediately return to your normal activities. After your procedure, you may experience some minor redness and sensitivity, similar to a small sunburn. These effects are usually mild and fade quickly.

How Much Does IPL PhotoFacial Cost in Atlanta, GA?

The cost of an IPL PhotoFacial is dependent on multiple factors, including the number of sessions you’ll need and the surface area being treated. The best way to find out how much your treatment will cost is to come in for a consultation and get a treatment plan made for you. Our Patient Coordinator will be able to provide you with a cost breakdown.

IPL PhotoFacial FAQs

Is IPL PhotoFacial painful?

IPL PhotoFacial is not a painful procedure. Some patients may find it to be slightly uncomfortable due to the warming sensation, but overall it should be very tolerable for most.

How many appointments will I need?

At our practice, we recommend that patients undergo a series of three to six treatments to achieve an optimal outcome. These procedures should be spaced about four to six weeks apart. In addition, practicing a proper skincare regimen and regularly applying sunscreen can help you achieve long-lasting results and protect your skin from future damage.

How long until I see results?

Most results will begin to reveal themselves at their fullest potential around two weeks post-treatment. If you choose to have multiple sessions, the results will only get better from there.

Can I combine IPL PhotoFacial with other procedures?

Our Atlanta area IPL PhotoFacial patients will elect to combine their treatment with other skin rejuvenation procedures such as a Chemical Peel, Microneedling, or PRP. If you have any particular area that you would like to enhance or have Dr. Galitzin look at, please bring it up during your consultation.

What are the risks associated with IPL PhotoFacial?

Most IPL PhotoFacial sessions have very little risk or side effects and Dr. Galitzin and our team take pride in providing successful results, however, there are some reactions that are associated with the treatment:
  • Blemishes
  • Blisters
  • Brown spots
  • Bruising
  • Crusting
  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Sunspots
While most of these side effects are normal and will heal on their own over a few days, if you do experience any concerning or long-term reactions, please contact us immediately.
