Is Laser Skin Treatment Unsafe or Painful?
No. Before any fractional laser skin resurfacing treatment session at our office begins, you will be given special shields to protect your eyes from the laser light. The treatment involves passing a handheld laser device over your skin that emits brief pulses of high-intensity light. Laser skin treatments are generally painless; however, you will feel a warm sensation in the treatment area. A cool gel may be applied to the skin prior to treatment to reduce potential discomfort. Fractional lasers are known for shortening recovery times and reducing the risk of negative side effects.
Types of Fractional Laser Skin Treatments
Laser Tattoo Removal
Our certified laser technicians use PicoSure™ laser tattoo removal, which is the most advanced laser treatment currently available. PicoSure provides a safe and effective way to remove tattoos without causing damage to the skin. Our advanced laser technology is even capable of removing colors that have traditionally been difficult to eliminate, such as blue and green. The PicoSure laser uses short pulses of light to fragment the ink particles. Tattoo removal is typically done in stages, so you will require multiple treatment sessions. In between treatments, you should avoid any direct sun exposure, as this could cause damage to your skin and delay your treatment.
Laser Hair Removal
Our advanced laser hair removal treatment targets the hair cells that are responsible for growth, resulting in long-lasting smooth skin. Over the course of several treatment sessions, the existing hair is eliminated and future growth is hindered. Many patients enjoy several months to a year or more without seeing any regrowth. When hair does regrow, it will be lighter in color and there will be less of it overall.

Photofacial
Also known as photorejuvenation, photofacial treatment uses intense pulsed light (IPL) to target and treat blemishes such as sunspots, brown spots, redness, and blotches. This treatment can also be used to treat fine lines and wrinkles. Treatment lasts 30 minutes to an hour, with a handheld device emitting light pulses in the targeted areas. The IPL procedure is nonablative, which means that no skin is removed. Instead, it works in the deepest levels of the skin to encourage collagen production. You may experience redness or sensitivity following treatment, which will fade in a few hours.
Fraxel Skin Laser Resurfacing
Dr. Galitzin utilizes this fractional laser to treat lines, wrinkles, and other blemishes such as acne scars and uneven pigmentation. It works by creating tiny holes in the deep layer of the skin, which causes the skin to tighten as it heals. The Fraxel® laser skin resurfacing system is a safe and effective way to create smooth, even skin tone and texture that looks more youthful and radiant. Following treatment with the Fraxel laser, swelling may last up to a week, and redness may last up to a month or more. Some patients will require multiple treatments to achieve their desired results.
