What is HydraFacial?

HydraFacial MD cleanses, extracts, and hydrates the skin in one comprehensive treatment. It can be tailored based on each patient’s skin type, so it’s a suitable treatment for everyone, even those with sensitive skin. Not only is HydraFacial an excellent standalone treatment but it’s also a great way to maintain or enhance results from other treatments. For example, your skin peels significantly after a chemical peel, but some dead skin cells may remain in your pores. The HydraFacial can extract these remaining dead skin cells and leave you feeling hydrated after a drying treatment.

Because the treatment is noninvasive, HydraFacial requires no downtime, so you will be able to resume normal daily activities immediately following your procedure.

HydraFacial targets a variety of skin concerns, including:

  • Dehydration
  • Signs of aging
  • Acne
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Uneven skin texture

Scheduling monthly HydraFacial treatments can contribute to your long-term skin health.

What are the Benefits of HydraFacial?

At Skin Care at 5th Ave., we have seen our Hydrafacial patients in the greater Atlanta area enjoy the following benefits from their treatment:

  • A more vibrant, glowing appearance
  • An even skin tone and texture
  • Fast treatment time
  • Increased skin elasticity and firmness
  • Less noticeable pores
  • Minimized fine lines and wrinkles
  • Non-invasive
  • Reduction in the appearance of brown spots
  • Requires no downtime

HydraFacial is a great option for patients who want to treat skin concerns on their face and neck but are hesitant to receive a chemical or laser treatment. HydraFacial MD is a painless treatment that’s safe for patients with any skin type. Though this is an excellent standalone procedure, HydraFacial can be combined with other rejuvenating treatments for more dramatic results and improved skin health.

Who are the Best Candidates for HydraFacial?

The best candidates for Hydrfacial are patients who have a positive and realistic approach to the results of the treatment and are committed to continuing a good skincare routine post-treatment.

Unfortunately, not everyone is a viable candidate for this treatment. Some factors that may disqualify you include:

  • You have an active rash, sunburn, rosacea, or infection
  • You’ve taken Accutane® to treat acne within the past year
  • You have a condition that affects your ability to heal

Additionally, if you have received a cosmetic procedure such as dermal fillers or laser treatment, let your clinician know during your consultation. These treatments won’t disqualify you from treatment altogether, but you may have to wait a few weeks before you can receive your HydraFacial.

First Step

What’s the First Step?

The first step in getting a Hydrafacial if you’re in the greater Atlanta area is to schedule a consultation at Skin Care at 5th Ave. with Dr. Galitzin or one of our highly-trained estheticians. During an initial consultation at our practice, you can discuss your skin concerns and goals with one of our aestheticians. From there, our team can design a customized treatment plan choosing from serums of varying intensity to meet your unique needs. If you like the treatment plan that is made for you, you can receive your Hydrafacial immediately after or schedule a better time with our Patient Coordinator.

Understanding the Ingredients Used During a HydraFacial

The serums used during your treatment are chosen based on your skin type and concerns. Depending on your skin type, your skin care professional can leave the serums on your face for differing durations and use lower intensities for sensitive skin types. Though your skin care professional at our practice may not use every ingredient on your skin, many patients like to know what each ingredient can do.

  • Glycolic Acid: Glycolic acid breaks down the bonds between cells and allows dead skin cells to slough off rapidly. It also encourages the production of collagen. Ultimately, this acid can reduce signs of aging and hyperpigmentation.
  • Salicylic Acid: Salicylic acid exfoliates dry, scaly, or thickened skin so it can be removed easily. It also treats acne by removing dirt and bacteria that build up in pores.
  • Hyaluronic Acid: This acid allows the skin to hold onto water, hydrating the outer layers and plumping fine lines and wrinkles. It can also soothe redness.
  • Peptides: When absorbed into the skin, peptides can improve the skin barrier, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and contribute to the body’s production of collagen, resulting in better skin elasticity.
  • Antioxidants: Antioxidants help your skin repair itself and neutralize free radicals, molecules that are responsible for breaking down the skin’s collagen and causing wrinkles, blemishes, and sagging skin.

What to Expect on the Day of HydraFacial

At the start of your Hydrafacial, a handheld device will be pressed against your skin to remove the dead skin cells with gentle exfoliation and resurfacing. Your clinician may use serums that contain glycolic acid and salicylic acid to remove your outermost layer of skin, revealing the smoother layer beneath it. Next, a strong yet gentle suction is used to painlessly extract impurities from deep within the pores. At the same time, serums containing hyaluronic acid, peptides, and antioxidants are used to nourish the skin. Finally, a vitamin-rich formula will then be applied to the surface of your skin to brighten and protect it from free radicals. Sunscreen will also be applied before you leave.

The treatment typically takes about 30 minutes to an hour.

HydraFacial Recovery

Unlike other skin treatments, such as microdermabrasion or chemical peels, your skin won’t be red or flaky following your HydraFacial. It will simply be plump and hydrated. Though results vary from patient to patient, many patients notice an immediate improvement in their skin tone after a single HydraFacial treatment.

This skin treatment can keep your skin hydrated for five to seven days or longer. Continued HydraFacial MD treatments can help maintain your results.

Those with mild skin imperfections may only require one to two treatments, whereas patients with more extensive concerns may wish to receive more treatments for a dramatic transformation. However, the most dramatic results are often achieved through a series of treatments, scheduled at intervals by your doctor.
