What to Expect on the Day of Laser Hair Removal
When you come into our office for your Laser Hair Removal, the first thing we do is apply a numbing gel to the treatment site about 30 minutes before to reduce discomfort. Once the technician is ready, you will both wear protective eyewear to reduce the effects of the laser. An assistant will hold your skin taut as possible as the laser technician applies the handheld laser to the treatment area.
This laser can be adjusted according to your skin color, as well as the color, thickness, and location of the hair being treated. Many patients report that the laser feels warm or similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin. The light from the laser passes through the skin and heats the hair follicle, damaging it to impede hair growth. We do offer a numbing cream before your treatment for a more comfortable experience, however, most patients find the treatment to be very tolerable, especially when compared to other treatments like waxing. Most patients compare the treatment to being snapped with a rubber band.
How many appointments will I need?
Since your hair grows back in stages, we strongly recommend at least four to six treatments to completely rid the targeted area of hair.
How long until I see results?
After your Laser Hair Removal session, your hair will begin to fall out between three and five days, so it may appear to get worse before it gets better, but this reaction is to be expected. Once the targeted follicle is pushed out, it will not grow back.
