Candidates for CoolSculpting®
CoolSculpting® is appropriate for both men and women. If you have stubborn deposits of fat in your abdomen, flanks (love handles), inner or outer thighs, or under your chin and around your neck, you may be a candidate.
CoolSculpting® is not an appropriate treatment for patients who are severely overweight or obese. It is recommended that patients be within 30 pounds of their ideal weight. Additionally, this treatment is not appropriate for patients with cryoglobulinemia or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria. Be sure to inform Dr. Galitzin of any medical or health conditions during your consultation so that he can recommend an appropriate treatment plan tailored to your individual needs.
CoolSculpting® offers the benefits of fat-reducing surgeries such as liposuction or a tummy tuck, without the lengthy recovery periods and risks associated with surgery.
What to Expect During CoolSculpting® Treatment
Prior to treatment, you will meet with Dr. Galitzin for your consultation to determine your candidacy for CoolSculpting®. Dr. Galitzin utilizes a holistic approach, viewing your whole figure from various angles to determine which specific areas will benefit most from treatment. With this information, he will create a personalized plan tailored to meet your individual needs. This may involve a combination of different treatments, or multiple CoolSculpting® sessions.
To begin your treatment, we will place a gel pad and applicator on the specific treatment area(s). We use dual-sculpt to treat multiple treatment areas at once, reducing your total treatment time. This applicator will then deliver controlled, cool temperatures through the gel pad, targeting and freezing only the fat cells in that area. You may feel some pressure and intense cold at the start of your treatment; however, this will subside shortly after. During your treatment, you can read, use your laptop computer to watch a movie or browse online, or just relax.
Because CoolSculpting® is a non-surgical treatment, there is no recovery or downtime. You are able to return to work or your normal activities immediately following each treatment session. Over the next several weeks, the frozen fat cells will die, and your body will eventually eliminate them. It can take one to three months before you begin to see results.
